Desert Dunes Mixer       - January 18, 2006

The Desert Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce made a wise choice when they asked the Desert Dunes Golf Club south of the city, to host the monthly get together.
President Lane Sarasohn and CEO Carole Farm are dedicatd to bringing the community of Desert Hot Springs together with our local businesses and serevices. This is just one more member that is happy to be part of our community. The Desert Hot Springs monthly mixer was held January 18, at the beautiful golf facility on south Palm Drive with flair and style.
General Manager, Mark Tansey lauded the efforts of Chamber President Lane Sarasohn and CEO Carole Farm, who brought about a very productive and enjoyable evening for all in attendance.
The Chamber Ambassadors lined up to greet the crowd as it filed into the beautiful lobby and on into the large lounge, with its gorgeous view of the golf links.
Olen Bartley, Director of Golf keeps a tight rein on conditions at the golf course, garnering it the prestigious designation of being the highest rated golf course in the Coachella Valley, Los Angeles County, Inland Empire, and Orange County. This rating is for Southern California Golf Course Playing Conditions, as reported by http://www.greenskeeper.org/ last year..
This is an excellent golf course for our area and a great addition to our outstanding Chamber of Commerce and to our city.
The rugged layout of Desert Dunes has small, firm greens (Bermuda Tifdwarf) which makes a low score even tougher on days the wind blows. The electricity-generating windmills you pass on your way to the desert from Los Angeles will give you a clue. That wind can help blow out that dark, polluted air from Riverside and Los Angeles that is always blowing our way in an effort to reach the desert.
One of the most interesting mixers to date, the Desert Dunes is now an official part of the Desert Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce.
Thanks go out to General Manager Mark Tansey and his staff, as well as to Chamber CEO Carole Farm, the volunteers, ambassadors and President Lane Sarasohn for promoting another great Chamber mixer.

The Desert Dunes Golf Club sits on 174 acres of desert south of Desert Hot Springs. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. in 1988, Desert Dunes rose to prominence in the golfing world when in 1990, Golf Digest rated it as the 29th best public facility in the United States. Desert Dunes has been a secret favorite of local golfers since the day it opened.
Desert Dunes championship layout is cut through the desert mesquite with two holes completely lined with Tamarisk trees. The course features two beautiful lakes, lush fairways, generous greens and some of the most picturesque views of any golf course in Coachella Valley.
The first desert course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., it was voted as one of the best public courses in Southern California. Laid out among large dunes and mature desert trees, it has a unique Scottish links flavor. The par-3 fifth hole requires a long tee shot over a desert setting with a mesquite backdrop and bent grass greens. Ranked in top 50 public courses in the country.
Desert Dunes is one of the only courses you can play in the desert without condo lined fairways and traffic noise. It is truly like a stroll through the untamed natural desert. Special care was taken to not disturb the natural lay of the land of the animals that inhabit the area. During a round of golf at Desert Dunes, it is not uncommon to see rabbits, roadrunners, red-tailed hawks, coyotes, owls and even an occasional kit fox.
