An outstanding group of students were on hand Tuesday, May 2, 2006 as the Desert Hot Springs Women’s Club announced scholorships for the qualifying students, at the beautiful Vista Montana Country Club.

The room was filled with excitement as the students, parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters filed in and sat at decorated tables.  Fifty-one members and approximately 60 guests were in attendance.
President Wright called the meeting to order and after the flag salute turned the meeting over to the Scholarship Chair, Colleen Becker.
The Patrons in the Special Scholarship Program were introduced.

As each student was called up to the front, they introduced their family attending and related to the gathering what school they planned to attend and what they would be studying.  Then the student was introduced to their Patron.  This was a very personal moment.

After the ceremonies, a delicious luncheon was served by the House of Hope girls.  The is probably the largest gathering for the Scholarship Luncheon and definitely the largest amount of scholarships awarded to students and schools.  It is always such a pleasure to give this money to the students of Desert Hot Springs.  The Women's Club has always since their beginning worked hard to fund their Scholarship Program.  It is always rewarding  to know that the COMMUNITY is just as devoted. A  BIG THANK YOU FROM THE DESERT HOT SPRINGS WOMEN'S
CLUB.

Women's Club Fashion Show

March 2006

The Desert Hot Springs Women,s Club Fashion Show was held on March 12, 2006 at the Miracle Springs Resort and Spa Hotel, a glorious occasion for the women and their guests. Women and several men, also, made the trip from other desert cities to lend support to the Desert Hot Springs club, which just happens to be one of the most active clubs in the valley.

Fashion Show theme was "Spring is in the Air" and Springtime hats and frocks were in abundance. The Redhatters even showed up to make an appearance with their red hats and purple attire.
The beautiful, casual, Springtime fashions were furnished by CHICO'S and the models were outstanding. They really cared, because they were members of the club. The commentator for this Women's Club Fashion Show was Andrew of the Palm Springs CHICO's, who did an excellent job of keeping the luncheon and show moving along at a fine pace.

Not only did the members model, but they also worked a great raffle, along with granting door prizes and a silent auction.

Over 220 lunches were served, prepared by Executive Chef Tyrone Love, who created a wonderful menu of soup, tuna, chicken & egg salad served on a bed of lettuce and a delightful (as Dr. Tad would have said) dessert.

All proceeds go to the club's Scholarship Fund.

Says President Nancy Wright, "The club was founded in March of 1953 and still going strong. We have given out cash awards in excess of $100,000.00 over the years towards education and community improvement."
President Nancy would like give thanks to the teamwork of the members of the club and all those who supported this years fashion show. "It was a big success and we raised about $6200.00 for our scholarship fund."

DHS Womens Club Honors Life Members & 53rd Anniversary
Once again the Desert Hot Springs Women's Club had a memorable meeting, March 6, at Vista Montana Clubhouse. March is the month the Club pays  homage to their humble beginning in 1953
and honor their Life Members who have worked long and diligent to uphold
the goals of the Club.
Their 53rd anniversary was celebrated with a luncheon/tea hosted by Mary Frank and her committee and twenty-four Life Members were honored with a crystal rose presented by Joni Lees.

The large Birthday Cake decorated in the club colors, burgundy and gold, was the focus of the table settings.  Thirty-five members and 2 guests savored the salads and the delightful carrot Birthday Cake.  Six Past Presidents were in attendance for the occasion and pictures were taken enjoying the special cake.

Good News for the Membership. Three new members were installed; Ruth Kildare, Judy Hodge and Barbara Fletcher.  WELCOME LADIES.

Dorothy Warren and June Pierce, Fashion Co-Chairs, are enthusiastic as usual about the Fashion Show.  It should be a dazzling affair with the charming floral center pieces (which will be the table prizes) and the elegant hats all the ladies will be wearing.

The Scholarship Committee is vigorously working on the applications they have received and are scheduling interviews with the applicants. The Scholarships will be awarded at the Scholarship Luncheon/Tea which will be held  May 2nd.

The DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS/PERSONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM has been well received by Corporate Sponsors. Officers for 2006-07 was presented and will be voted on at the April meeting.

Looks like the Desert Hot Springs Women's Club is well on it's way for completing another successful year and making plans for the next one. Come join us and be part of this dynamic, energetic group of Women.
