               Lewis James Warner, 83
Lewis James Warner, 83 of Desert Hot Springs died on November 18, 2007 at California Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Palm Springs.

Mr. Warner was born in Detroit, Michigan to Rufus Warner and Ruby Cooper Warner on January 24, 1924. He married Goldie Imogene Lynch in October 1947 in Detroit, Michigan.
He worked as a machinist for 30 years.

Mr. Warner served in the United States Army from March 1943 to December 1945. He fought for our country in the Battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Mr. Warner was awarded the European Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and the Purple Heart.
He attended the Living Water Four Square Church in Desert Hot Springs.

Mr. Warner is survived by his wife, Imogene Warner of Desert Hot Springs, his son Jerry Kelly of Desert Hot Springs and his sister, Kathleen Lewis of Taylor, Michigan.

Services are private, and burial is at Riverside National Cemetery under the direction of Rose Mortuary of Desert Hot Springs.

               Ricky Barry Logan, 59
Ricky Barry Logan, age 59, a lifetime resident of the Coachella Valley, and twelve years in Desert Hot Springs, died at Eisenhower Memorial Hospital on November 12, 2007.
Mr. Logan was born on July 2, 1948 in Palm Springs to Benton WoodrowLogan and Sylvia Bornstein Logan. He married Kathryn Ann Yates on July 3, 1999 in Las Vegas.
He was a partner with his father in Logan Sons Lawnmower, selling and servicing lawnmowers in Palm Springs for fifteen years. He then worked for seven years on the stage crew and security force for Elvis Presley. He then owned and operated Sons of Logan Motorcycle Sales and Service in Cathedral City for eleven years.
Mr. Logan is survived by his wife, Kathryn Logan of Desert Hot Springs, his son: Collin Logan of Joshua Tree and Joshua Logan of Las Vegas, Nevada; his stepsons: Mike Holbrook of Portland, Oregon and Mason Marquardt of Tioga, North Dakota; his stepdaughters: Brandy Holbrook of Phoenix, Arizona and Mindy Hove of Trenton, North Dakota; his parents: Woody & Sylvia Logan of Palm Springs; his brother: Art Logan of Sky Valley; his sisters: Ione Logan of Cathedral City, Holly Logan of Alpine and Donna Alvarado of Portola Hills, and 16 grandchildren. A celebration of life gathering was held in his parent's home on November 17. Interment is private with Rose Mortuary of Desert Hot Springs in

             William Arnold Jacobs, 71
Willaim Arnold Jacobs, 71, an 11 year resident of Desert Hot Springs died at Odyssey House Hospice in Palm Desert on November 22, 2007. He was born on January 31, 1936 to Arnold Maurice Jacobs and Margaret Elizabeth Helzerman Jacobs in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He married Nancy Eileen Arnold Johnson on October 16, 1982 in Santa Ana, California.
Mr. Jacobs was a tool & dye maker for 40 years. Working with Engineering Industry in Detroit Michigan, and then A&E Manufacturing in Fullerton. He also owned and operated Northland Market in Lachine,
Michigan for 8 years. He was a member of Desert Crest Country Club in Desert Hot Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jacobs of Desert Hot Springs; his daughters Julie Lundholm, Margo Wrobel and Rebecca Leask all of Alpena, Michigan; his stepdaughter Lori (John) Brimmage of Rancho Mirage; his stepsons, Perry Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida, Curtis Johnson of Orange, Marc Johnson of San Bernardino, Daren (Hazel) Johnson of Mission Viejo; his brothers, Richard Jacobs of Hazel Park, Michigan and Robert Jacobs of Warren Michigan.
Private arrangements are under the direction of Rose Mortuary of Desert Hot Springs.

Joe Watson, 70

Joe Wats

Joseph Thomas Watson, 70, of Desert Hot Springs, died Friday, June 29, 2007, peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Born in West Hollywood on October 11, 1936 to Jack and Margaret Watson.

Joe was a loving husband, dedicated Dad, loyal friend and proud American. Survived by his wife, Christine D'Angelo, whom he married June 28, 1958; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jess Musick of Lawndale, Ellen and David Simmons of Yucca Valley; a son and his wife, Daniel and Andrea Watson of Indio; a brother Jack Watson of Bellflower, CA. He had 6 grandchildren, preceded in death by granddaughter, Kelsey Morgan Watson.


To know Joe, was to appreciate his ever present smile, great sense of humor, his love of his family, his care for others and most certainly, his great love for America. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Miracle Springs Hotel, in Desert Hot Springs at 1:00 p.m. Because of his love for his Country and her flag, in lieu of flowers, Joe requested that all proudly fly America's Flag often.

Alan Lincoln Horton, 87

Alan Lincoln Horton, 87, known to friends as Al, died at home in Palm Springs of natural causes on April 7, 200 7. Al had many friends in the valley and had a long history in Desert Hot Springs. He was born in Salem, Nebraska on June 29, 1919 to Benjamin and Irene Horton.
The family moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1925. Al served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 in Europe. He came to Desert Hot Springs in 1946. He met Rowena Rogers in June of 1947 and they married on
August 24 of that same year in Pico, CA. In 1947 he built and opened El Pueblo Market on the corner of Cahuilla and Palm Drive in Desert Hot Springs.
Ten years later in 1957 he opened Horton's Market on Pierson Boulevard in Desert Hot Springs. Al was involved heavily with the Desert Hot Springs Rotary Club, DHS Chamber of Commerce, Angel View Crippled Children's Foundation, The Palm Springs Polo Club, and served 27 active years in the DHS County Water District, now Mission Springs Water District, on the Board of Directors. In 2003 he was recognized for his service, by the water district, with the new $8 million water treatment plant being named in his honor.
He is survived by his wife Rowena, son Joseph Horton, (Bernie) of Florida, daughter Janice Horton of Hawaii and son Roger Horton of Palm Springs, CA. Internment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Glendale, CA.
The family asks that all memorials be sent to The Allen and Rowena Horton Scholarship Fund for Graduates of Desert Hot Springs High School.

Thomas Palmer Moen, 81

Thomas Palmer Moen, Sr., 81, of Idaho Falls died on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Idaho Falls, of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Mr. Moen was born to Melvin Ansgar Moen and Julia Myran Moen in a house his father built on a farm in rural Fertile, Minnesota on August 28, 1925. He resided in Fertile until 1948 when he moved to Spokane, Washington, and then he moved to Idaho Falls in 1969.
He had a wide-ranging career that included many jobs. He worked on his father’s farm until 1948. When he moved to Spokane he worked for Armor Meat Company, and then was a sawyer at a lumber mill, and then worked for the National Pole, manufacturing railroad ties. He, joined the United States Air Force in 1952, and was discharged in 1956, while in the Air Force he worked as an inspector of heavy bombers and held the rank of Staff Sergeant at discharge. He returned to Spokane in 1956 and resumed his job with National Pole. He attended Whitworth College in Spokane from 1958 until 1962 graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. He worked as Assistant Manager of the Spokane Convalescent Center from 1960 to 1966. He was Administrator of the Good Samaritan Home in Spokane from 1966 to 1969, transferring to the Good Samaritan Home in Idaho Falls in 1969, and was Administrator there until 1976. He was an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company of America from 1976 until his retirement in 1981. From 1981 until he began Alzheimer’s he made his living investing in the stock market.
Mr. Moen is a 37 year resident of Idaho Falls. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Lay
man’s League, life member of the Tordenskjold Lodge No. 5, Sons of Norway in Spokane and had been a member of the Idaho Falls Rotary Club. He was past first vice president of the Washington State Nursing Home Association. He also had been an advisor to Idaho Governor Cecil Andrus regarding nursing homes.
Mr. Moen helped to start the Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Rigby. He also served as a volunteer chaplain at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for several years. Moen Street in the Spokane Valley, near the Good Samaritan Home, was named in his honor.
On February 2, 1953 he married VerDel Jean Morphis, of Spokane, Washington in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She is buried in the Pines Cemetery in Spokane, Washington. On August 1, 1975 he married
Dorothy Marie Heuer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. She was a good and loving companion.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Dorothy Moen of Idaho Falls; his daughter, Bernice (Kevin) Barrentine of Kankakee, Illinois; his son’s Thomas (Dolly) Moen, Jr. of Desert Hot Springs, California, and Mark (Michaela) Moen of Idaho Falls, his stepdaughter, Susan Gihring of Boise; his stepson’s Steven (Susan) Gihring of Idaho Falls and Mark (Jenny) Gihring of Newton, Kansas. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His sister Marie Todahl of Fertile, Minnesota; his brother Clarence Moen, also of Fertile, and his brother Bennet Moen of Hawley, Minnesota, preceded him in death.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2007 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls. Funeral Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on March 19, 2007 at 11:00 am, with viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Graveside Committal Service with full military honors will be held at Fielding Memorial Cemetery immediately after the funeral.

James L. Pace, 77

James L. Pace, 77, of Desert Hot Springs, left us on March 25, 2007. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 21, 1929. He attended school there until he joined the United Sates Marine Corps and served 26 years of active duty. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with Two Stars and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. After retiring from the Marines, he worked for the Mission Springs Water District in Desert Hot Springs for 13 years.
He is survived by his wife Pearl Pace, two sisters, Fern Sneider of Chicago and Lucy Lowry of Las Vegas, two brothers, Mitchel Pace of Ohio, Stanley Pace of Texas, several nieces, and stepdaughter Robin Hunt of Desert Hot Springs.
At his request, no services will be held. He will be resting peacefully at Riverside National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Mortuary, Desert Hot Springs

Maurice LeVang, 80

 Maurice LeVang was born in Thief River Falls, MN, on July 18,1925 and passed into heaven on January 4, 2007 at The California Rehab Center in Palm Springs, CA.
A Cancer Survivor, Maurice was still very active and had present and past achievements and accomplishments. Among those were VFW as Past Commander in DHS and American Legion Color Guard in DHS for 4 years. He was Leading Knight Officer in Desert Hot Springs Elks for 2 years. , and served as Treasurer of Cooties of Joshua Tree, CA.
Maurice was a Band Member of the Arrangement Country Band and in Orange County he served as President and Organizor of several Music Festivals.
A very versatile musician, he had mastered the guitar, bass, mandolin and banjo.
The quiet, likable musician organized the Dixie Rhytm Ramblers and was leader for some 25 years. During this entire period, Maurice was Chairman of the Dixie Room for the Musician’s Local 2 Annual Bash.
His love and devotion for the VFW and his lodges made him a very responsible officer, but his first love was always for his wife Audi Kay and his family. Maurice has a Brother, Neil LeVang, who was guitarist/banjo/violinist for the Lawrence Welk Show. Neil, and his very talented family live in Santa Clarita, CA.
Wife, Audi Kay, sends a warm thank you to our relatives, our many friends, Pastor Lorna and Reverend Richard, Carole at the DHS Chamber of Commerce, all musician church associates, service comrades, neighbors, and Mr Donalds Morning Coffee Clutch for their generosity, love and consideration in this most stressful time.

William Joseph Sheehan, 75


William Joseph Sheehan, 75, of Desert Hot Springs died on February 1, 2007 in Desert Hot Springs.
He was born on August 28, 1931 in Summerville, Massachusetts to Joseph Irving Sheehan and Vera Belle (Rice) Sheehan.
Mr. Sheehan worked for 35 years at Montelo Heal in Brockton, Mass. where shoes are manufactured.
On December 29, 1967 he married Pamela Mary Edith Woodman in Rockland, Mass.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Sheehan; his daughters Janice Sheehan of Desert Hot Springs and Wendy Sheehan of Fall River, Mass; his son Brian Sheehan of Eastor, Mass.
Memorial Funeral Service was held at 1 pm on Wednesday February 7, 2007 in the Rose Chapel at Rose Mortuary in Desert Hot Springs.
