Support Victory!
We are fighting for U.S.’s survival
On June 6, 1944, the largest sea to land invasion started on the beaches
of Normandy, France. It has been known as “The Longest Day” but for the
troops that survived that terrible beach, it was only the start to
liberating France and bringing about the surrender of Germany on VE day
in May 1945. The leaders of that era did a wonderful job of keeping
their eye on the ball and using our armed forces to bring total victory.
Since then, except for small skirmishes, our victories have become less
and less clear. Apparently we are losing in Iraq and our allies are as
worried about it as we are, especially the United Kingdom, Canada and
Australia, not to mention countries like Israel, Japan, South Korea,
India and the Philippines. If the United States goes under, what will
they do? Who is at fault? Politicians for sure! Our liberal-slanted
press, absolutely!
Sad to say, if America does not “support victory,” we are doomed to fall
into the hands of our enemies, which are either communists or worse yet,
maybe, be forced to kowtow to Islam!
Americans that give “lip service” with catch phrases like, “I support
the troops” or “It is Bush’s war,” just don’t get it. We are fighting
now for the very survival of this country.
The citizens of France finally get it. They have voted in a man to be
their leader that is not afraid to kick ass and take names. Libya got
it. They took one look at Iraq and turned in the keys to their nuclear
ambitions. A lot of other countries would follow suit if they were
convinced that America still has the backbone to put it all on the line
like we did on June 6, 1944. June 6 is a day to really reflect on what
our soldiers fight for — freedom!

Cameras in Public Places
Let's learn from our British brothers and track terrorists with video
Cameras in public places.
We will deter crime in our violent cities and catch terrorists at the
same time. Cameras can save lives and avoid horrendous terror attacks in
our cities. If we are behaving as Americans we have nothing to hide from
the cameras. It is not an imposition on our freedoms to be free from
terror! It is worth the price. It is better to be alive than private!
Let's get our brilliant politicians to pass laws to install cameras
every where.
Using technology will help us capture the enemies of freedom on tape and
in the act.
If we don't act now it may be too late.An ounce of prevention is worth a
pound of cure.
Only criminals or someone with something to hide could oppose this idea

Received my ever welcome Valley Breeze today, and while reading the
letters to the editor, was surprised at the vehemence of David Lake's
letter regarding the laws in DHS.
With the exception of the one about the chain link fences, which I admit
I don't understand, all the laws that he listed were very logical.
Picture the reversal of these laws, and you would see a city that
appears to resemble a poorly run trailer park. I have lived in several
cities, and these same laws were accepted as a matter of keeping things
livable and enjoyable for everyone, inhabitants and visitors. I see
nothing esthetically pleasing about garbage cans strewn around, cars,
trucks, trailers and RV's parked everywhere, graffitti written on walls,
which encourages more to appear, messy yards (professional landscaping
is not required to achieve a nice effect), and brown grass which is
meant to be green. Cracked windows are easy and inexpensive to replace,
and painting can be done by the homeowner, it does not require payment
to a licensed painter. I cannot believe that City Council expects things
to be done immediately, I'm sure they allow citizens time to correct
things that need to be taken care of, especially if they know that
person is willing to work with them on the problem. Maybe I'm all wrong,
but it would be detrimental to all if these laws were not enforced, at
least that's my opinion.....
On a happier note, I had a good chuckle at Jack Webb's column, and
enjoyed Lee Ellis' tongue-in-cheek letter to Osama!! As always, the
diversity of the Valley Breeze is very enjoyable. Keep up the good work,
Buzz.

Now we don't have any excuses for these offenses on our property.
I only hope the city starts enforcing these laws.

Eminent Domain?
I read in the paper about the last, City of Desert Hot Springs, council
meeting. I find I am not the only one that has a problem with the
tactics of the Code Enforcement department. Their actions are nothing
short of those employed by tyrants such as the Nazi's in World War Two.
They are taking personal property from residents, of Desert Hot Springs,
without even giving notice to the owner's of that personal property.
They are issuing Citations to owners of Real Estate for personal
property that belongs to their tenant, over which they have little or no
control. This is being done to collect un-fair fines. They expect the
Landlord to evict the tenant for the non-compliance even though the
tenant has not been given any notice to come into compliance. I have
personal knowledge of these things. I am one of those Landlords.
It disturbs me that over 70% of the personal property that is in
question is owned by people of Hispanic descent. Is Code Enforcement
trying to change the City? Are they trying to rid the City of the people
they would be "Happy to see leave"? As the Mayor's wife told me "Alex
has been trying to Clean-Up this City since he took office". At what
price Mr. Mayor?
The employees of this City work for the residents. They are supposed to
be servants of the people. The people of the City should not be treated
as a "Scourge" to be gotten rid of by any means. This is the impression
I have been given by the Code Enforcement people I have come in contact
with.

We need more readers like Anne!
Received my always welcome Valley News about an hour ago, and of course
had to drop everything to read it.
After perusing your column, I studied the old and new versions of your
city's logo. I realize, as a non-resident, that my impressions are not
relevant, but have to say that the "old" logo appeals to me more than
the stylized new logo. To me, the old logo represents informality, which
I think would appeal to a larger group of the population.
Although you say a new version is needed, I hope different versions are
presented to the public, as you suggest. Surely the citizens should have
a say in how their city is viewed, especially by people wishing to visit
or take up permanent residency. So I hope your idea is taken and acted
on.
My admiration for Jack Webb is growing by leaps and bounds! What a
wonderful thing he, his son and grandson are doing. And I have to say
that I agree totally with Darlene Casella's "Common Cents" column, it
makes a lot of "cents".
As usual, I enjoyed my Valley Breeze from stem to stern, and will be
looking forward to the next issue. Thanks for the great work, Buzz!!

Dear Mr. President,
I know where Saddam's WMDs went, and where they are now. So do the CIA
and the State Department and Mr. Gaubatz. And now so does Melanie
Phillips and much of the UK's reading public.
I assume, therefore, that you do too.
So it is time to end the charade.
I never understood why you chose not to reveal that Saddam had smuggled
most of his WMDs into Syria just before the war. Especially before the
last election, when 'no WMDs, Bush lied' was such an issue.
But, be that as it may, there is more at stake now than an election.
Syria has SCUD C and SCUD D missiles, both of which are capable of
carrying a WMD warhead up to 750 kms..
Syria now has access to the hoards of WMDs (biological, chemical, and
nuclear) stored in the caves of the western face of the anti-Lebanon
mountain range. It is only a matter of time before the Iraqi scientists,
smuggled into Syria before the war, will complete the development of the
technology needed for a Syrian military deployment of these weapons.
And let's not forget that Syria is a client state of Iran, and the
mechanism whereby Iran deploys its proxy army, Hezbollah.
Syria may hesitate to use its WMDs, but Iran (*) and Hezbollah will not.
And once Hezbollah takes over Lebanon, Iran will no longer need the good
services of young Bashir.
And, just as bad, if not worse: If Syria has them, then it is just a
matter of time before Iran has them, and if Iran has them, then it is
just a matter of time before Hezbollah and Hamas and el-Qaeda have them.
Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and el-Qaeda have all declared war on the USA. Do
you think that their humanitarian concerns for the lives of non-Muslim
will restrain them from using WMDs against the USA?
Melanie Phillips may be right that shame impelled you to try to keep the
lid on the scandal of failure (CIA failure, DoD failure, your failure?)
to stop the WMDs from leaving Iraq....but personal chagrin is irrelevant
when the lives of millions are at stake.
Are you waiting until Syria fires its first WMD at Israel, or
Hezbollah/Iran fire their first WMD (at Israel), or el-Qaeda fires its
first WMD at the USA by floating in to NY harbor an oil-tanker with a
WMD inside?
Waiting for your enemy to strike first so that you/we have the moral
high ground is not a good strategy when that first strike may take the
lives of millions.
They are not called weapons of MASS destruction for nothing.

Regarding the City Logo
Dear Editor,
Your article about the DHS city logo was right on target. It really
could be a logo for any city in any desert. Why not accentuate the
unique qualities of our city?
We have the best water.
We have the best views.
We have great spas.
We have the best air.
We have wide open spaces.
We have potential for smart growth and should be the "greenest" of
cities.
We have an engaged public who cares about the city.
We have diversity.
We have the Angel of the Mountain.
We have Cabot’s Museum with its great story of Cabot and Portia Yerxa,
the discovery of the healing waters, the respectful ties with Native
Americans, and Merry Christmas, Cabot’s beloved burro.
As a docent at Cabot’s Museum, I end every tour with a view of the Angel
of the Mountain and Merry Christmas on Mt. San Jacinto which is seen
only from DHS. Every visitor to the museum is awed and inspired by the
story of our city’s greatest pioneer.
They love the souvenir they receive at the end of the tour---a bottle of
our world famous, award winning, Mission Springs Water that is bottled
with a scene of Cabot Yerxa and Merry Christmas.
Visitors love the water and the bottle because it captures the essence
of the story of Cabot and of Desert Hot Springs. Why not incorporate
this into the city logo?
So, Mr. Buzz, it’s not "just you." There are many of us who care about
the city and would love for it to be represented as the special place it
is. The logo would be a good place to start.
Sincerely,
Michael O’Keefe

An idea worth implementing:
The following idea is good. Maybe we could use it in our state and
country!
Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay
me.
I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as they see
fit.
In order to get that paycheck I am required to pass a random urine
test, which I have no problem with. What I do have a problem with
is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a
urine test.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check,
because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back
on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping
someone sit on their butt. Could you imagine how much money the
state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public
assistance check.

Valley Breeze, Good
Your Valley Breeze is good, interesting. I enjoy “Is it just me?”

replace him in the charitable organization, the local “Food Now”

People like Guy must never be forgotten or taken for granted. He

Invasion of the Windmills?
The Palm Springs Mayor and City Council should be aware that the
Riverside County Planning Dept. is currently processing Bill Adams'
(White Water Energy) proposal for WECS 118, a 2400 acre windfarm on
land owned by Stephen Christensen between Snow Creek Road and the
I-10 and extending up high into the San Jacinto Mountains.
This will mean a large scale industrial windfarm directly behind
the Palm Springs Hwy 111 exit sign on the I-10 freeway at the very
entrance to the Palm Springs area. It will also mean an army of
windmills in the San Jacinto Mountains and 410 ft. high windmills
on flat land obscuring landmark views of the Northern Face of Mt.
San Jacinto and the Snow Creek alluvial.
It is my sincere hope that The City of Palm Springs will oppose
this development which would put 51 windmills at the scenic western
entrance of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National
Monument and the front doorstep of Palm Springs that will rival the
height of Casino Morongo.
Some of the most beautiful land in the San Gorgonio Pass has been
destroyed by windmills. The ancient vista of the Northern Face of
Mt. San Jacinto and the Snow Creek alluvial is as important to Palm
Springs as The Indian Canyons and shouldn't be sacrificed for a
sprawling power plant.
If this development or any part of it is approved, other landowners
will eventually sell out to windmill developers because the land
will be worthless for any other purpose. Who would want to build
houses or live near 410 ft. high windmills?
I am asking the city leaders of Palm Springs to please support the
preservation of Mt. San Jacinto and the Snow Creek alluvial by
strongly opposing this development.
Sincerely,
Les Starks

We are not an either/or America.
The U.S.A. is a We the People, Of the People, For the People, By
the People nation.
We cannot be divided nice and neat into Democrats and Republicans.
The traditional 80/20 split from multiple polls, surveys, and
research show that We the People believe in many basic things: The
Constitution, The Declaration of Independence, Rule of Law, the
basic principles of the 10 Commandments.
With Hate Crimes, people have tried to divide us again into groups
based on race, gender, religion, color, age, disability, sexual
orientation, national origin, ancestry, economic status,
neighborhoods and ethnicity. Crime they say, is motivated by
subjective feelings of whether the crime perpetrator approved of
the beliefs and practices of the victim. So does that mean if you
murder an old, rich, gay, olive- complected native of Greece that
lives in Chenal, it is more or less a crime than that of a young,
poor, father, white, and an American citizen living in Hillcrest?
Prejudice: damage resulting from disregard of one rights;
preconceived judgment.
Tolerance: sympathy/allowance for beliefs or practices differing
from ones own.
Respect: giving consideration; looking with regard.
With 300 million people in the U.S.A. we cannot and will not be
divided into two groups. Do the math: twelve ways to divide/group
us equals (12 to the 12 power) trillions of possibilities.

California Continues to Provide Illegal Aliens With Health Care,
In Violation of Federal Laws
Once again, the State of California is refusing to obey Federal
guidelines and putting the health and safety of its honest citizens
in jeopardy. This is the time for Federal officials to cut off all
Medicaid money to the State of California until it complies with
the law. We are supposed to ask for ID for medical services paid
with Federal funds, and we dont. California is a law breaker. How
can the Attorney General or any District Attorney bring charges
against individuals or corporations, when the biggest thief in the
State is the State government! A business doesnt abide by the law
it is shut down and an individual goes to jail. We need to know
who, specifically, is authorizing this law breaking. Money is being
misspent and eventually we will have to pay it backadding to our
deficit. The time to obey the law is now.
Living Wage" for Illegal Aliens Approved by LA City Council
Thursday 16 November 2006 Los Angeles officials have approved a new
magnet for illegal aliens to come to town. This time it is a major
pay increase, without productivity increase. This is the "Living
Wage" movement. Now illegal aliens working in the hotels and
restaurants near LAX, just because they are near LAX, will get pay
raises. The real reason for this is not to help the workers, but to
make more money for the unionsthe unions have gone out of their
way to represent illegal aliens (though it is a Federal crime) so
that the higher the wage, the more the dues. The more dues, the
more money to donate to candidates and to further control the
economy.
Airport hotels ordered to pay a `living wage Workers celebrate the
City Councils vote. Businesses say theyll seek a referendum.
The Los Angeles City Council voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to
require hotels near Los Angeles International Airport to pay their
workers wages and benefits equal to $10.64 per hour the first
time that the city has demanded such a "living wage" from
businesses that have no direct financial relationship with the
government.

Illegal Alien Raids Prove
Amnesty is Wrong
Here are just a few of the recent headlines about raids of illegal
aliens. I bet I could enter any town in California and within thirty
minutes find dozens, if not hundreds of illegal aliens. The government
needs to enforce our laws. Whether it is Tyson Foods, with tens of
thousands of illegal aliens, dry wall companies with dozens of illegal
aliens, hotels with dozens more, we need to enforce the law. Or how
about the Day Labor Centers, exclusively for the use of illegal aliens?
We should have whole sections of newspapers reporting on the raids. I
also believe that as we do the raids, other crimes, along with drug
sales will go down quickly. Amnesty is never the answer. 1986 brought us
amnesty, and twelve million, or more, illegal aliens.
Do you think we need more raids? Should we have tips lines? Is the
amnesty bill the right way to go, or are raids?

they live in crowded conditions among a people

I'm not talking about illegal aliens, I'm talking about our troops.

U. S. Constitution effective
We work together
To paraphrase what Morris Bescholss
said in his recent column, the good old U.S.A., with all its warts, is
still the most enviable economy in the world, bar none (Global
economics: America’s economy still envy of world,” June 3). Our economy
works so well because we work together to make it so.
Our Constitution is the bedrock for all the laws that have been enacted
since our country was founded. Our Constitution is secular, as it does
not permit our government to be run by the head of a religious group.
Now compare the united States to theocracies such as Iraq, Iran, Saudi
Arabia and others in the Middle East and elsewhere, where laws are
enforced as interpreted from the Quran by their rulers.
If and when Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi run out of oil, what kind of
economy will they have? Obviously, they will revert to 11th Century
economics.
Meanwhile, keep spending your money to keep our economy thriving while
at the same time save some money to help keep interest rates down. Quite
a balancing act, right?
We can have guns and butter too, as they said in the ‘60s.

Fair Vote...Is it Fair?
There is a Presidential Elections Reform group called Fair Vote.
"Fair Vote" may sound convincing; unless you understand our
nation's history.
Each state has 2 Senators plus elected U S Representatives. There
has been one change since our Founding Fathers created the
Electoral College, in 1800. It is that elected officials each get
one vote; rather than two.
In order for a Presidential candidate to be elected, the candidate
must have popular support as well as sufficient distribution of
that support throughout the country.
Citizens in less populated areas were concerned that all matters
would be decided by the population centers on the East Coast; and
feared a loss of representation. The Electoral College insures that
New Yorkers do not have more voice than Arizonians.
"Fair Vote" wants to destroy the system that our Founders created
which maintains the Federal level of government and representation
that keeps America in balance. There is nothing fair about the
goals of Fair Vote.

Save The Dinosaurs?
Having been in and around Desert Hot Springs since 1977, reading
the newspapers of the desret, we had never heard of the CVAG (The
modern version of Save The Dinosaurs.) Why?
Why wasn't this included in the recent rezoning of Riverside
County? It seems the lower valley, having built up its blow sand
area want Indio and Desert Hot Springs to preserve "their desert"
for them. ("I've got mine and I want yours too.)
Where did the financing come from to develop this plan? It has been
said that future funds will come from fees from future development.
What if it stops? Isn't this just a disguised version of eminent
domain? Kelso comes to mind.
Who are the chosen few that are going to administer this plan? Are
they accountable to the electorate for 75 years? If not, who will
succeed them?
Could it be that Indio (the largest city) and Desert Hot Springs,
which is just starting to grow, be a threat to the balance of
political power of the valley? Just wondering.

Tyranny of cities
The organization FairVote wants to end the Electoral College, thus
turning America from a republic to a Western European-type of
social democracy ("Making it meaningful," June 18). FairVote's Bill
Shein wants all future presidents to be elected not by a
representative group of all 50 states but rather by only the
Democrat strongholds of Los Angeles and San Francisco, and
nationally, by Seattle, Detroit, Chicago, New Jersey and New York
City.
This plan, having failed in the past nationally, is now being
introduced state by state with California legislation headed to our
governor now. If you want to turn over your voting rights to the
major cities in this state and later to the major cities in the
United States, do nothing. But if you want this country to remain a
republic and not end up like France or Spain, notify Gov. Arnold
Schwarzenegger now. Stop the attacks on our Electoral College.

I find it strange that the students here along with others in LA

that in our country, America. So why did not these protesters hold
this march in Mexico in front of the Mexican TV cameras and the

If it were not, would not everyone be headed for that country
instead of ours?

In the past three days, I have been deluged by e-mail "warnings"

A Message Dedicated to "Mi Raza"
It would seem t me that when someone passes away, God has taken
them from this world. I ask myself, "If I could, what would I do to
prevent that tragedy from taking place." (but I understand there is
nothing you can do when God calls out your name.)
The only solution that is obvious to me is "change". Change the way
my mind works. I believe that my world can change only by people
changing one step at a time.
So go ahead; don't be afraid. Make that change! Open up your mind
for the benefit of all. We have everything to gain.

ClassDismissed
We read recently that middle-class society in China is growing. The
working class is slowly getting smaller, thus more difficulty to
manufacture goods and provide services.
Our structure is also changing. Our middle class is slowly
disappearing. The rich are gaining a substantial percentage of our
population. There are many signs that the poor are no longer
welcome or worth the effort to help them.
Recreation facilities are our main focus for construction plans.
With so many recreation locations and emphasis, who among us will
have the necessary funds to participate in recreation? Seniors? No!
Young families? No! Working class? No! Rich? No! They will buy
their own place and fun.
Shouldnt we focus on restoring America? Unimportant things like
levees, ports, security, education, police and fire protection,
roads, dams, transportation, airports and auto reform?
Have we Americans been dismissed? We know! Take your pills, pay
your taxes, shut up and go to your room!
Thanks for reading this! Ill be quiet. Its nice to communicate
with you!

Admiration for Bush
Any reasonable person has to admire President Bush. The
media would have you believe the President and the
Republican party are at odds and in disarray. The media hope
repetition will make it stick. Its Congressional liberals
that have been on the wrong side of the NSA, the Patriot Act
and two new Supreme Court nominations. Contrary to what you
read, there is a robust economy and low unemployment.
Americans are well off , feeding the greatest economic
growth in US history rooted in tax reductions. Yes, the
Presidents poll numbers are low. So? Where are liberal
ideas? Liberals are even numb to advancing domestic
programs, once a liberal linchpin. Liberals prematurely
claimed defeat of the Patriot Act and now have voted against
seniors on Medicare. Its the same angry, intransigent and
old liberal leadership, void of ideas. Truthfully,
Democrats are in disarray. Happily, a steady President is
not driven by pointed polling. After all, we learn little
from polls. Polls said Al Gore would win. Kerry would win
in others. Is there any wonder the President couldnt care
less about polls? With the mandate of his reelection he
continues to advance the programs he believes are the right
direction for our nation in these unsettled times. Fortunate
for all of us I say.

Appreciation For Emile Nepper
A word of appreciation to your newspaper and Mr. Emile
Nepper. I look forward to reading his articles of
information in the Valley Breeze about the High School. Mr.
Nepper has done a wonderful job with this article and I look
forward to reading the next article of his. It is nice to
get to know the Teachers and Staff at the High School and
letting the community know about their upcoming events.

American Frustration
Normally, I tend to vote more conservatively
than liberally. I am a registered independent. As of late, however,
I find myself disgusted with both political parties being more
interested in the rights of illegal aliens (felons) than those of
the law abiding citizens who elect the party representative. Are
the organizations such as LULAC filling the political coffers with
money
.does this buy illegal aliens a pass on abiding by American
laws that the citizens themselves do not get? Americans are
becoming increasingly frustrated with the double speak coming from
both parties with regard to this issue. It seems that party
representatives no longer seem to believe they need to represent
the wishes of those who elect them and I dont mean the big
business contributors.

Don't Believe Everything You
Read!
As a fairly new
resident of Desert Hot Springs, I had been warned
..don't believe everything you read in The Desert Sun
concerning DHS...the paper has a skewed and unfair
opinion concerning our little town. Well, nothing
could be more on target...this weekend's edition
carried a blurb under an article titled civic life
that was either pathetic (a sad exercise in editing)
or downright sick.
The article seeks to compare and contrast a variety
of community topics i.e. business, sports. local
happenings...under the heading of "arts and
entertainment"..we read how Cathedral City is
considering a street fair, Cochella and it's Winter
Farm Adventure, Indian Wells' Las Vegas style benefit
etc
....now look at the blurb for DHS under the A&E
banner...it's about a man a arrested for stabbing a
DHS resident...Will someone please explain how a
stabbing is considered Arts and Entertainment..
I'm confused..what have the citizens of DHS done to
earn such wrath from the local press?

A Word From Councilmember
Hohenstein
Dear Buzz,
Susan and I want to thank you and the residents of Desert Hot
Springs who worked so hard to defeat the Recall Signature Drive.
The correct result was obtained for the benefit of every resident
of our City.
The prospects of a recall was a very chilling and destabilizing
element to many persons who were looking to Desert Hot Springs for
a home, a business or an investment. It had the same negative
impact on the vast majority of our current residents.
With this 'non-starter' behind us we can look again to the future
of our City. We have many vital activities to work on that will
improve the quality of life for all. We will be working to find a
new City Manager with strong financial credentials.
We need to continue to make Desert Hot Springs a place where
businesses feel secure in making major investments here. This will
result in more local jobs, better shopping, less travel and a
broadened tax base. We need to continue the improvement to our
streets, including gutter, curb and sidewalk. We need to improve
the delivery of health services.
We have to give active attention to emergency services. Our City
can be proud of the devotion it has shown to the aged and
physically challenged who reside here. However, that only increases
our responsibility to be prepared in the event of an unexpected,
major disaster. We have increased fire and police personnel. It is
now time to develop a comprehensive disaster response plan.
For the first time since we incorporated, 43 years ago, we have a
Police Management Plan and a Fire Response Plan. Imagine spending
77% of our revenues without a plan. To compliment these plans we
need to move rapidly to complete the updating of our General Plan.
This is the basic document on which each one of us will hang his or
her future. It needs to be completed so we will be as efficient as
possible in preparing for the future.
These are but a few of the major tasks that were being delayed and
interrupted by the Recall effort. We are now all able to get back
to the work of completing the vision for our City that was so
wonderfully crafted a year ago.
Thank You Again,
Hank Hohenstein,
Desert Hot Springs

A Kind Thank you
I want to thank you for your kndness in the
very flattering write up. I thought you must be writing about
someone else.
I was sorry to read about your losing your neighbor; I know she
must have been a lovely lady. I also saw that article by Alta
Hester. I called her and she is going to come and see me next week.
Thank you again.

Controlling Our Destiny
Truly amazing that out of the mere
alphabet of 26 letters, trillions of various combinations of those
letters form words! These words describe every known aspect of
human life and are both beneficial and disastrous to the human
race. Recently, words have been tainted with multi-meanings,
cleverly and carefully adjusted to further confuse the common man.
Our reaction is purposely designed by these clever writers and
speakers to promote apathy of thought and action, giving free reign
to word manipulators.
Experience tells, that it is quite obvious, that we are getting
further away from Democracy in our beloved America. Common man
dares not to express himself in honest terms, and lives in fear.
It must be recognized that we no longer have control of our own
destiny, as our forefathers wrote. Their words, so honestly written
with truth, have been manipulated and twisted to fit the present
day greed of lawmakers, locally and nationally. Scams and crimes
against each other cause us all to live with fear every day. We
read how so many lawmakers, politicians, local and national
leaders, lie and cheat, and then we say, "If they can do it to us,
we can do it too!" Even the Golden Rule has been destroyed.
America, plan for the future! Stop the hero worship of cheats! Look
for and live the good words of encouragement that will give us
honesty again. We deserve not only words of honesty, but to return
to good old USA integrity!

Origins of Universe and Solar System
It gets cumbersome to pick up on all the
goofy theories about the beginnngs of things. So, maybe some things
have an opening night or a point at which something started that
wasnt there before that specitfic time. But when it comes to the
beginnig of the universe, I think the scientists are off base.
The Universe, like life, like God, the energy, wisdom and
authourity of ALL that is, has been, and will be, is always there.
The complete history is recorded in the memory of nature, which the
skeptical scientists cannot reach because it consists of spiritual
energy which they cannot see, touch, weigh or measure, and
consequently must ignore.
Our solar system actually had a beginning. After God claimed a
certain area of space for the specific use of developing
environments which His creations, us humans and assorted LGMs
could use to grow and develop into super-beings with powers like
His own, He had the sun throw off blobs of molten stuff which
became our solar system, which became inhabited as soon as they
were the right temperature for each creative wave.
Most of these creations are invisible to our sight because they are
composed of varying wave lengths and frequencies. Sometimes a
remote viewer can see them.

A Good Laugh
While in your fair town, I read your paper
and got a good laugh. First you bash Hillary Clintons but make no
mention of the majority GOP party menbers who took millions from
their lobbist Jack Abramoff. Then you mention Bill O'Reilly with
his phony campaign to protect Christmas.
Christmas does't need a spinner like O' Reilly to stay alive. The
Christians will always live and love Christmas. You also state in
your paper that the anti-war people think America is evil. When can
any American object to their crooked political leaders and not be
called evil. And maybe some day you will state what a liberal stand
for instead of what G Gordon Liddy thinks a liberal is.
I hope some day you will give all political views in you paper. It
might expand your circulation.

Herb Thanks the People
Earlier this month there was a
documentary exposing PETA for what it really is and how they have
one of the highest Kill rates there is in the shelter they run back
East. Tragically so many people are duped by them and fortunes go
their way because of celebrity ignorance.
Yet these celebrities do have heart and really want to help,
sometimes they have more money than brains.
One thing for sure here in Desert Hot Springs we have more heart
than any place I know. That is why we have one of the lowest kill
rates in the country with all our challenges.
I am so proud of our city and what it has accomplished. One thing
is that we received national attention when it came to helping the
hurricane animal victims of Katrina. This was truly one of the most
rewarding times I have ever had in helping the animal world along
with the lowest kill rate in the nation.
Desert Hot Springs really is second to none in helping the animals
have a chance.
I want to thank all the people who fostered our animals here at
Save a pet, Inc. to make it possible to take in all the animals we
could from that devastated area.
We did get some matches (re-uniting pets with their owners) and
they are now back home, yet we have so many from there that could
use a good home.
See them at Saveapetdhs.org and make a friend for life. Gratefully,

Dear Citizens
I'm an Okie but I wish I culd say there's
not a man I didn't like. Had the pleasure of knowing Will's
daughter Mary and son Will Jr. I don't think either one agreed with
their father on that point. Living her in Desert Hot Springs, I am
sure not a Will Rogers.
The man who is tryig to rid our council of Mary and Hank... first I
would like to know what he and his merry band have done in the past
for our city and I question their intelligence for the good they
profess for our future. Just another vendetta! Since I have lived
in DHS, I have experienced more vendettas than in my 70 years of
living any place.
When I first experienced DHS, it was a knothole town. In my eyes,
it's just grown from a knothole to a necklace of wonderful lights
at night coming home and looking like we are really something. Then
the sun comes up and the ugly manners! No manners are taught to our
children because the mothers and dads have no class to teach their
children the difference to be kind, caring and a human being.
We are so worried about Hank and Mary making the mistake of
trusting a man that some will beat a horse to death. Yes, I was
concerned how a man cold write his own ticket but this real life
and you are real people to know what trust is and then be betrayed.
Mary and Hank trusted.
Thank God for Counselor Larson! We've had lawyers since the
beginning of Silver Sage. I would like to know how much the
ignorance of that council cost this city if we had a true tally. I
can tell you - millions. So it cost $322,000. Hanson was lawyer,
plumber, planner, city manager, whatever! He was needed!
I will never like a council and there was a full council to let a
city manager write his own contracts without mistrusting him. I am
sure they have all learned a great lesson from this.
Be thankful for Susan, Hank's wife. She provided you security.
People who seem to know don't, otherwise they would give credit
instead of discredit. Mary is respected in Washington, Sacramento
and by Indian tribes. Think of all the millions and ridicule this
city has gone through and still carries the tag "Desperate Hot
Springs!" $322,000 is cheap to get the damn thing finalized. We can
move on in 2006 and in my book, with the little knowledge I
possess, our next two years we will survive because on our council
we are blessed by God to have 4 to 1 odds. God Bless Desert Hot
Springs!

They Run In Packs
Have you ever seen a pack of wild dogs when they want blood?
When small people, through their jealousy and bruised egos begin to
attack the giants who are so far above them, and who show them up
for what they are, it's almost pathetic to watch. To see their
constant whining and yapping like small, hungry dogs jumping and
barking around the boots of the giant is a sickening sight to
behold. It is embarrassing to see them become lower than the curb.
People who have lived here long enough and have witnessed Matt
Weyuker in action over the past six years know and realize and
appreciate what he has done for the city and community, and he did
became a giant.
Regardless of what these panting, slobbering, crude, insensitve
animals tell themselves about him, they could not sit in the same
room with him now or before, when Matt was at his peak. If they had
known him then, chances are, they would be yapping and slobbering
after him like he was the man with the beef steak.
Because the former mayor, who has great knowledge of his previous
job, points out mistakes or questionable monetary donations
accepted by the new mayor, he is attacked by these starving,
hungry, slobbering, vile animals. Why is this not considered a
citizen alert? It seems the public would want to be
made aware of this public
information, and surely the public appreciates it. The barking,
crazed pack would rather condemn Weyuker the messenger, for
pointing it out.
The whiny, little weasles cannot contain their frustration when one
of their idols seems a bit tarnished.
Does anyone know what they want, other than being constantly in the
spotlight? They show up at any function where there might be a TV
camera or where they can spout their poison to an audience.
At City Council meetings, they sit so that the camera is constantly
on them, sitting there with their sickly grins. What is behind
those grins, empty space?
They approach the lecturn every chance they get, saying almost
nothing, with their boring, obnoxious, drolling attempts at humor;
then mjugging for the camera with a possum-like grin on their
faces, so proud that they were able to be seen by the TV audience
and the four or five of their peers still remaining at the meeting.
What these yappers do for livlihoods is another mystery. It seems
they have plenty of time to spout their nasty, vile, poisonous
tripe all over the internet. They email their illiterate
frustrations whether you want it or not, just scraping the edge of
illegal harrassment. Much of the tripe is merely made up, twisted,
some are half-truths and all is exaggerated.
Individually, these nasty, sick little buggers are no more than
just that, sick little puppies; but when they run in packs, they
could be dangerous, and they do have a leader. He is the one who
controls their sick, puny, little minds and keeps them stirred-up.
They should probably be kept on leashes. Better yet, maybe some of
them belong in cages.
~ A Weyuker Fan

Minimum Wage Raise
Questioned
Governor Schwarzenegger agreed to increase
the minimum wage to $7.75 per hour.
Those without an understanding of economics may think this helps
low wage earners. Minimum wage is a job destroyer, hurting the
least skilled. If it did help, why not make it $15.00 an hour, or
more.
When you raise the price of wages, the least
educated and least skilled workers will not be hired. With higher
minimum wages employers hire fewer employees, and use alternative
means such as high technology. Economist Dr. Walter Williams, black
by popular demand, said Minimum wage law has imposed incalculable
harm on the disadvantaged members of our society. Many needing a
foot on the first rung of the work force ladder will not have a
chance.
Another myth is in regard to family support. Only
6% of those earning minimum wage are the sole support of their
family. Mostly teens hold minimum wage jobs. There are 100,000 12th
graders in California that cannot pass a 10th grade reading and
math test. They will be victims of the increase.
In addition to hurting the least skilled workers,
alarmed free market thinkers know that minimum wage is an unfunded
mandate on business. We hope the Governor will hear the sirens.

Bush Opposes Mexico Border
Wall
U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Tony Garza
revealed the president is aware of the concerns of critics who
would like to build a wall around the United States, he knows that
such proposals are both unrealistic and undesirable.
Garza says improving cooperation with Latin America would be the
best guarantee of security for the United States.
The best way to regulate immigration is to approve Bushs
proposals for a guest worker program.
Let me see. Something is missing here. No wall - no border? No
borders- just let everyone go wherever they wanted to when ever
they pleased.
A guest worker program that lets anyone and everyone in and the
illegals that are here can stay too?
We must not let the Senate add guestworker amnesty or programs to
the upcoming legislation.
This is a sign of politically motivated stupidity.

When will
America Wake Up?
Like a toilet in the kitchen, a housing development in Chino Canyon is totally inappropriate, and no berm, creative landscaping or architectural innovation
will ever disguise it or make it right or acceptable.
Just imagine how it will look when the developers of Mountain Gate are allowed to run their bulldozers through Chino Canyon. We'll get one more of their ugly, poorly designed housing tracts and we
will lose forever this magnificent ancient landscape with its unparalleled inspirational views that continue to draw the world's tourists to Palm Springs.
This is no time for compromise. This is the wrong place to ruin. The people of Palm Springs and local leaders who want to see this land preserved should take immediate steps to circumvent Century
Vintage Homes or anyone who wants to turn even one shovel of dirt in this truly sacred canyon.
A place of refuge, solitude and great beauty, Chino Canyon is a living treasure worthy of our every effort to preserve and protect it from the irreparable, quick and careless scar of development.

Legal Immigration is Wonderful!
Legal immigration is a wonderful
and important feature of America; I myself am the grandson of four legal European immigrants. But illegal immigration poses a danger to America, France, and any free country.
Some liberals, some Democrats, some antiwar activists admire France and the European Union.
They admire their weak foreign policy, they admire their high taxes, they admire their almost socialist policies regarding business and labor, and they admire their wide-open immigration policy.
This week, in the continued and out-of-control riots in France, we see the results of French immigration policy. And let's not forget that there are terror cells all over Europe. Think they're busy
this week?
To achieve different results, we need to pursue a different policy. No "open borders." No amnesty. No "benefits" for illegal aliens. No loose security in a time of war and terrorism.
